Hi I am taking my grandchildren 9&6 to Disneyworld in February on a surprise holiday. Can I book reserve viewing for the fireworks and if so how do I do this and how far in advance can I do it.

    Hello Sian!

Welcome back again to planDisney! Sian, you may be winning some favorite grandparent awards next year when you surprise your grandchildren with a holiday at Walt Disney World Resort!

Fireworks in Walt Disney World Resort are called Nighttime Spectaculars for a reason. They are truly spectacular in design, music, and emotional impact. Magic Kingdom Park has Happily Ever After which is best viewed from in front of Cinderella Castle EPCOT has Luminous The Symphony of Us which is a show centered around the World Showcase Lagoon.  Each Park has a special experience where you can enjoy great spots for nighttime entertainment.

Magic Kingdom Park has the Magic Kingdom Fireworks Dessert Parties: Seats & Sweets. Guests can enjoy special desserts, cheeses, and beverages at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant. Guests can then enjoy the show from seating on the restaurant's patio. Another option is the Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Post-Party and Pre-Party. The Post-Party option allows Guests to enjoy desserts at Tomorrow Terrace Restaurant after watching Happily Ever After in a reserved standing area in the Plaza Garden. Plaza Garden is located right in front of Cinderella Castle so there is a perfect view of the show. The Pre-Party is the opposite so Guests can enjoy desserts first and then get escorted to the same standing area in Plaza Garden for a viewing of Happily Ever After. These experiences are part of the Enchanting Extras Collection and for some reason, International Guests cannot book these in advance. Our International planDisney panelists suggest using a US or Canadian-based Travel Agent who can assist in making these reservations on your behalf or waiting till you arrive and hoping for the best while trying online on American soil. There used to be an option to try and call and speak to a Cast Member but it is not clear if that works anymore. These events tend to sell out and I am worried that waiting till you arrive is going to be disappointing. If you cannot secure a reservation my best suggestion is to secure some good snacks from Casey's Corner and find a spot on Main Street, U.S.A. right in front. Aim to be around this area about 30 minutes to an hour before the start of the show.

EPCOT's nighttime spectacular of Luminous The Symphony of Us has a few special Dining Packages that you can reserve ahead of time! You may soothe some homesickness with the Rose & Crown Fireworks Dining Package. Seating for this is very limited but you can enjoy a delicious meal on an outdoor patio and then remain seated to enjoy the show! Another option is the Spice Road Table Fireworks Dining Package which provides a similar experience. Since these two are dining experiences they can be booked 60 days before you arrive online or via the My Disney Experience Mobile App. I highly suggest you set an alarm as reservations open at 6 AM EST.

I hope this helps in your magic-making and surprises.
    Happy Planning!

Meet the Panelist: Nimmy, New York

Hey, it's Nimmy from New York! Just like my guy Jiminy Cricket I am your wisecracking and helpful guide to making the best decisions for your Disney vacation! My husband and I work very hard to journey to our favorite place on Earth, Walt Disney World Resort, as much as we can. We have traveled as just adults, with babies, kids, teenagers, and senior citizens. We have seen so many characters, eaten at amazing places, and consumed a ton of Dole Whips. So "give a little whistle" and let me be your guide! Learn More About Nimmy
