Hi, Linda! Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I am so excited to hEAR that you will soon have a
"grand" adventure with your grandchildren the Walt Disney World Resort! You are going to love experiencing all of the magic through their eyes. Since you will be visiting in October, you may want to think about boo-king tickets for
Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This event is always a spook-tacular time.
Linda, I would be happy to provide you with some information about
MagicBands to help you prepare for your upcoming trip. If you are staying at a
Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, everyone included in your hotel reservation will receive a complimentary solid-colored MagicBand. Recently, an option was added for Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests to
upgrade, at a discounted price, from a complimentary solid-color MagicBand to one of a selection featuring various Disney characters and designs. If you are not a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guest, you may purchase a MagicBand to use during your visit. MagicBands can be
purchased online through shopDisney or at many retail locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort. Although you do not have to have a MagicBand to visit the Walt Disney World
theme parks, it sure does come in handy.
MagicBands add a level of convenience to so many aspects of your Walt Disney World Resort visit. Everything you need is right there on your wrist! Your
theme park tickets and
FastPass+ selections can be linked to your MagicBand, so you never have to dig through your bag to find an admission card. Wearing your MagicBand on certain attractions can provide you with access to some special
Disney PhotoPass Service attraction photos, as well as unlock some magical surprises during some attractions. If you are a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guest, your MagicBand will unlock the door of your hotel room, and you can also use your MagicBand to charge purchases to your room.
For your grandchildren, they will need to use their MagicBand (or admission card if you are not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel) to enter the theme parks and attraction queues when using FastPass+. If you are worried about your little Mouseketeers losing their MagicBands, you could carry theirs for them. However, I have found that my own kiddos have been able to keep their MagicBands on without an issue. My kids love wearing their MagicBands and using them to unlock our resort hotel room door. As for charging privileges, you can opt to only have the adults in your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel room have the ability to make purchases with their MagicBands.
If you have any additional questions, please visit us again! Have a magical day!
Samantha
