Hi! We'll be taking our girls to WDW and they will be 2 and 4 (almost 5!) when we go. What dinner show would be the most appropriate for them and which one would they enjoy the most? I am afraid HDD and the Luau may be too mature...thoughts? Thank you!!!

    Puneet:

I agree that the Hoop Dee Doo Revue and Spirit of Aloha would be a bit mature for your girls. My son was 5-years-old when he saw both of them and slept through most of the luau!

Because it sounds like you're not afraid to venture out to the resorts, let me recommend that you consider Mickey's Backyard Barbecue at Fort Wilderness. The evening begins with an all-you-can-eat buffet of foods that even picky eaters will like: hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, chicken, and macaroni and cheese. Older guests in your party can enjoy an adult beverage as part of the price and everyone can fill up on all the Mickey ice cream bars they want!  You'll find the entertainment a draw with a roping cowboy and some line dancing. Best of all, the girls will be able to get up close to Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Chip 'n' Dale. It may seem chaotic on the dance floor at first but after the first few hoards get their pictures, accessibility to the characters gets easier.

A few hints: arrive at least 45 minutes early and get in line at the pavilion. Let the girls explore the playground equipment that's within eye sight while you wait. (Seating is first-come, first-served and you'll want to be near the dance floor.) The show is only on Thursdays and Saturday nights, typically, so plan accordingly. Lastly, the barbecue is outside under a pavilion. If you're going in the summer, it can be a rough combination for youngsters who haven't gotten a nap to deal with the heat so again, plan accordingly.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
