We will be taking four of our grandchildren to Disney world in October. iin the past we have stayed at a Deluxe Disney hotels. This time I booked us at The Caribbean Beach. I have recently read some unfavorable comments . is this a good place to stay?

    Hi Donna,

Welcome to the Moms Panel! My family stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort last fall and we really enjoy it. Its laid back atmosphere was perfect for that trip.

There are some differences between the Deluxe & Moderate Resorts. The entrances to the rooms at the moderate resorts are external meaning you'll be outside when you open your door. CBR is a big resort so depending on where your room is, you may not be very close to the main pool, food court, recreation or bus stops.  You can put in a request for a specific building but keep in mind that it is a request. They will do their best to accommodate you but can't guarantee that your request will be met.

We loved the recreation opportunities at CBR. There were watercraft and bike rentals. My boys loved the Surrey bikes. The rental location is located near Old Port Royale. They also enjoyed the playground. There is an arcade for older kids.

For swimming, CBR has several heated pools located throughout the island villages. The pools located within the villages are quiet pools meaning no frills just a nice quiet place to relax and swim.  The main pool complex at Old Port Royale is a swashbuckling adventure, themed like the colonial Spanish fortress Fuentes del Morro.  It features 2 water slides and provides a festive atmosphere.  My boys loved the hot tub too. This pool is also conveniently located near the food court. Speaking of the food court, my boys got a big kick out of getting their burgers in fries in a sand pale including a little shovel.

If you have smaller grandchildren (under 48"), they will enjoy their own water play area which is very near the main pool.

Our room was nice, clean and quiet which is exactly what I was looking for at the end of every day.

Let us know if you have any other questions during your planning!  Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
