we are taking five kids six and under to disney for three days during christmas week. we are celebrating two birthdays so were looking for free or cheap things to do that would involve disney. Thanks

    Amy:

As a mom of four kids, I understand the need to stay on a budget. And there are many activities that you can do at Disney that won't bust the bank:

    • Downtown Disney amazing Lego statues at the Lego Store simply amaze. Our kids could spend hours just playing with the Legos outside the store. Take the boat down to Port Orleans and enjoy a free outdoor movie. Ghirardelli's offers free samples but one of our favorite memories was ordering the Family Favorite Sundae. Instead of spending a fortune on individual desserts, we opted to share the huge dessert. Big impact on a small budget.
    • Epcot is home to lots of sampling from freebies at the Werther's stand in Germany to caramel corn from Karmel Kouche. Best memory maker? All of the different soda flavors at Coke's Club Cool. And yes, they were free. If you're nearby at the Boardwalk, enjoy the magicians and entertainment along the water, take the roundtrip boat ride to Disney's Hollywood Studios and return to catch Illuminations at 9 p.m.
    • Magic Kingdom area: It costs nothing to ride the ferry, monorail or boat launches at Disney and honestly you could spend half a day just enjoying these. Finish off the evening at the Ticket and Transportation Center or the marina of the Polynesian to take in the fireworks.
    • Fort Wilderness: I'm a big fan of the fort and its outdoor amphitheater that houses Chip 'n' Dale's campfire singalong and nightly movie. Bring a blanket and fixin's for s'mores or a picnic dinner. Check out the horse stables behind Pioneer Hall and splurge on a pony ride for the kids. There's a large playground near the marina where you can wait for the evening's Electric Water Pageant.

Wishing y'all magical vacation and two wonderfully free birthdays!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
