We are taking our first trip to WDW in June and staying at the GF. Our plan each day is to be at a park as soon as it opens. How much time should we plan for transportation from the GF and getting thru security at each of the 4 theme parks?

    Hi Bob!

You certainly picked a great Walt Disney World Resort to stay at--the Grand Floridian!  As a general rule, I try to get to each Walt Disney World Theme Park at least 15-20 minutes early because it enables you to get through the bag check and through the ticket boothes before the Park actually opens.  You normally get to go into each Park a certain distance to a rope and then you get an added bonus--you get to see that Park's "Opening Ceremonies".  After the rope is dropped, you are one of the first people into the Park.

As far as how long to plan for transportation, it will vary in relation to how close the Park that you are going to that day is to your Resort.  I will give you average times from the Grand Floridian to each of the four Theme Parks (keep in mind that these times assume that you board a waiting bus, boat, or monorail without waiting for the transportation to arrive.  If your transportation has not arrived yet, then you will have to add the time that you were waiting for transportation to arrive to the total time of travel to a Park) :

Magic Kingdom: 5-10 min via Monorail or Boat

Epcot: 20-25 min via Bus or another option would be the Monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC) and then transfer to another Monorail going to Epcot

Hollywood Studios: 20-25 min via Bus

Animal Kingdom: 20-25 min via Bus

I hope that you have many magical adventures at Walt Disney World in June!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
