We are taking our first trip to WDW 5/25 with a fam of 6 driving from Houston kids ages 2,6,9, & 11. Husband and I are full time students with not a lot of time to plan. Whats the most important when it comes to this trip and what about refillable cu

    Hi Jennifer,

Your family must be so excited about your first trip to Walt Disney World!  Your kids are at a great age to experience the magic of this world-famous vacation destination.

Since your trip is fast-approaching, I would start to make a list of things to pack.  It will likely be hot in the theme parks during the day so shorts and short-sleeved t-shirts should work out nicely.  Plan to have a lightweight jacket, rain poncho (from a local dollar store), swimsuit, and comfortable shoes for each person.

Bring books, videos, and games to play on the ride down.

If you already know how many days you'll be spending in the parks, ask your kids to help plan which day you will spend in each park.  Show them a list of attractions in each park and ask which ones they most want to experience.  Then plan your day accordingly.

I highly recommend that you do at least one character dining experience.  This is a fabulous way to enjoy a memorable meal while the Disney characters make the rounds to meet with guests at their tables.  Your kids might want to bring autograph books for the characters to sign.  These make great souvenirs.

As for the resort refillable mugs, these come with every Disney dining plan in 2012.  If you are not on the dining plan, you can still purchase these at the quick service restaurant at your Disney hotel.  Depending on how long you'll be staying at Walt Disney World, these can save you quite a bit of money on beverages during your stay. They also make excellent souvenirs of your Disney adventure.  I take my tea to work every morning in one of my Disney refillable mugs.

Let us know if more questions arise before you leave for your trip.  Wishing you all an amazing and magical adventure!
