We will be taking our first trip to Disney World this summer with our 6 year old and I need to know what I should plan on bringing with us?

    Hi Jessie,

So excited for your 1st trip to WDW! Be sure to stop by Guest Relations & pick up "1st Visit" buttons for each of you.

Summer is super hot in Orlando so make sure you bring light colored clothes to stay cool. In addition to shorts, I usually throw in a pair of jeans in case we go to the movies or another indoor place that it a little cooler. A water misty bottles & extra batteries. Disposable rain ponchos & umbrellas because afternoon showers pop up frequently. Hats, sunglasses & of course - sunscreen. Don't forget to bring Chapstick with sunscreen for your lips too. 2 pairs of comfortable shoes because there is a LOT of walking -& case one gets wet.  In addition to your casual clothes, bring nicer clothes for special dinners - a few restaurants like Victoria &  Alberts have a dress code. Swimsuits are a must. I am super cold natured so I always bring a light sweater for restaurants.

Bring an extra bag to take home souvenEARs. Ziplocs to put leftover carrots or grapes in for snacks later in the day. Bring snacks - they do allow outside food to be brought into the parks - just no alcohol or glass.  Refillable water bottles. The water at the Disney fountains is awful - bring powered drink mixes to stir in. Camera & extra batteries. If you've made any ADRs, bring your confirmation #s. I like to carry antibacterial wipes, baby wipes, bug spray & sanitizing gel. Tide pens for when condiments attack. Sharpie for autographs. A small backpack to carry things around in.

For your 6 year old, bring something to keep him/her occupied while waiting in lines (i.e., hand held games or favorite small toy). I also bring DVDs & activities for travel or downtime in your room. - depending on how long you're staying at the parks - you will need some.

Most of all bring your inner child & have an incredible trip.
