We are taking first trip to Disney work 3rd wk in Jan. -09. Between the following resorts-which have you heard are the nicest rooms-eating-and whatever else-we have a 7 year old. choosing from :Contemporary-Beach Resort-new Wilderness one? Thanks!

First trips to WDW are so memorable. I love to hear about families embarking on their first adventure to the "world". Our family will be in WDW during the third week of January as well. We just love Disney in the off-season, especially January. But....sh....don't tell everyone about how wonderful it is then!

I can help you sort out the resorts.

The Contemporary Resort offers very large rooms with close, walking proximity to the Magic Kingdom. Monorail access to the Epcot is also nice. You will have many dining options at this resort and also just a monorail ride away to two other hotels. It is not my favorite resort for children as I think the theme/atmosphere of the pool and other areas could be more child-friendly. It is also a convention hotel so you will see many business people walking around which I think detracts from your escape from reality.

The Beach Club Resort is wonderful. It's casual with a touch of elegance. It offers a beautiful walkway to Epcot and a nice boat ride (or walk) to Hollywood Studios. The pool is the best on WDW property. Kids love it. Meals are provided via the quick service counter at the pool, character meal at Cape May Cafe breakfast and other places in walking distance. There is no food court type restaurant. I love the Beach Club.

Wilderness Lodge is beautiful. Smaller rooms but wonderful amenities, including boat ride to the Magic Kingdom, nice restaurants. Kids and adults love this hotel. It's less expensive than other deluxe hotels.
