Hi, We're taking our first trip on December 12th, 2011 and I'd love if I could get some tips on where to eat on a budget with a family of 6? Or any ideas on how to save money when it comes to eating in the parks. Thanks! We're soooooo excited!

    Hi Terry,

Woohoo! Congratulations on your upcoming FIRST trip to Disney!

As you know, Disney theme park food can be pricey. But there are ways to save while your touring Walt Disney World.

Eat your main meal of the day at lunch instead of dinner time. The lunch menus at most table-service restaurants are less expensive.

Have a late breakfast/early lunch! A small granola bar  or bowl of cereal can keep the troops going in the early morning until it's time for brunch.

If you have kids under age 3, try some buffet meals where the little ones will eat free!

Bring your own bottled water and carry it with you into the parks. Drinks can add up quickly.

Try an appetizer rather than entree for your meal. Often they are less expensive, but still hearty and delicious.

Utilize kiosks for some meals. The baked potato cart in the Magic Kingdom serves up yummy potatoes that can really be a satisfying lunch!

You don't have to order the entire combo meal at counter-service restaurants. Ask for just the entree without the fries and you'll save money.

Don't order the first thing you see on the menu. Can you get a bowl of chili rather than pizza and fries?

Many snack items (sundaes, candy apples, Mickey pretzels, etc.) are large. Order three to share rather than six individual snacks. Ask the fabulous Cast Member to cut up your candy apple into pieces!

    Have a wonderful trip!!
