Hello, Taking our first family trip to Walt disney world in Dec. We are staying 4 days and 5 nights (using a park hopper) and have a 4, 8, and 10 year old. Any suggestions on making the best of this trip.; any must sees/do's, special events, etc?

    Hi Karla!

You are visiting Walt Disney World when it will be beautifully decorated.  If you are visiting in early December, the crowds will be about medium, but if you are visiting at the end of December, Walt Disney World will be very crowded.  If you are visiting at the end of December, I suggest using a good touring plan to help manage the crowds.  My favorite touring plans, which maximize the number of attractions you can experience while minimizing your wait in lines, can be found at the independent website TouringPlans.com.  That's the website for the research team behind the tour book "The Unofficial Guide to Walt DIsney World".  Their touring plans are based on a lot of math and years of data collection.  As an engineer, I'm a huge fan of their work.

With regards to special activities, you should see if Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is being offered when you are visiting.  If it is, you should consider going.  It is a great event held on select nights in the Magic Kingdom.  You should also consider doing a Candlelight Processional Dining Package in Epcot; the Candlelight Processional is one of my favorite holiday events in or outside of Walt Disney World.  Another "must see" is the Spectacle of Dancing Lights in Disney's Hollywood Studios.  Finally, don't forget to watch the lighting of Cinderella Castle nightly in the Magic Kingdom!

I hope this helps!  Please write back with more questions!
