We are taking our first DisneyWorld trip in March w our 3 and a half and 17 month old sons. We are debating between the Polynesian (with monorail) and the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Lodge looks SO amazing - but how hard is it to get around w/o monorail?

    Hey Renee!

My family has always used the Disney bus transportation system for every Walt Disney World trip we have taken.  I can honestly say our experience in riding the Disney bus system has been very good.  Yes, you do have to wait for the busses, but you also have to wait for the monorail.  The busses really try to stay on a strict schedule of picking up and taking to the Disney resorts and Downtown Disney.

Time is a HUGE commodity with small children.  Staying at a monorail resort might save SOME time for Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.  However, just be aware that you will still have to take a bus to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom if you stay on a monorail resort.

The bottom line is that I would not let the bus system or the monorail dictate where you stay.  If you think Animal Kingdom Lodge is great (which it is!!!), then I would stay there!

I hope this helps in your planning!

    Have a MAGICAL day!
