Hi - We are taking our first Disney World vacation with our children, ages 9 and 6. We have not told them we are going. It will be a surprise at the airport. Can you recommend a book for them to read on the plane to help them learn about the parks?

    Hi Kara,

What fun to surprise your children with their first trip to Walt Disney World!

I checked with some of my fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists about book recommendations for your children.  Many of them recommend "Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids 2013".  This book is available on amazon.com.

We also thought that it might be fun for your children if you make and order the free customized maps from Disney ahead of time.  You can order them to be delivered to your house before you leave for your trip.  These maps can be customized by marking attractions that you think each child might enjoy.  Then you can present them to your children at the airport.

I hope these recommendations are helpful for you.  Be sure to take a video or photo of your children's reaction at the airport when you tell them where they are going - it's sure to be priceless.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
