Taking first Disney trip 7/6-7/12 staying @ POP. On our first day we will arrive in Orlando @ 8:39am taking Magical Express from airport so not really sure what time we will arrive @ POP.What would you suggest we do on first day? My 11yr old will be tired.

Hi, Linda!  If we've had to be up early to catch an early morning flight, we like to take it easy our first day.

If you are arriving at 8:30 in the morning, chances are, your room at Pop Century Resort won't be ready yet.  You can head to the resort, check in, and leave your bags (plan at least an hour to an hour and a half from your arrival time until you get to the resort).  If you have passes for each day of your stay, maybe plan to do the morning at a theme park, have lunch, then head back for some swimming and an early bedtime.  The food court at Pop has some delicious dinner options, and I would problem plan to be in the room by 3 in the afternoon, unpacking, then heading over to the food court for some dinner.

Another option is to just check out Downtown Disney.  You can get all of your souvenir shopping out of the way, and have a leisurely lunch at Fulton's or a quick bite at Wolfgang Puck Express.  When your room is ready, head on back to Pop Century and plan to turn in early.

You are also welcome to use the pool while you wait for your room to be ready.  You will find restrooms where you can change - just keep your swimsuits in your carry on bags - and when it's time for lunch, you can grab a bite at the food court.

Something else to consider is a movie at the Pleasure Island movie theater!  If you haven't yet seen Toy Story 3, it is getting incredible reviews, and it will help keep you excited about your Walt Disney World vacation while giving you a bit of down time before jumping into your vacation!
