I will be taking my first disney cruise with my 7 year old daughter in February 2016. I opted to do the disney transfer from the air port to the ship then the ship to the airport. I am trying to plan my flight back to home but want to know when we should?

    That's awesome, Jennifer!

You and your Princess have picked an awesome vacation choice to sail with Disney Cruise Line. You are definitely in for a treat and all the Moms and Dads on the Disney Parks Moms Panel are very excited for you.

Taking advantage of Disney Cruise Line's ground transfer from airport to the port -- and from the port to the airport on your way home, is definitely the convenient way to go. The transfers will include baggage handling, so, remember to put your Disney Cruise Line special luggage tags on your check-in luggage.

I would suggest taking a flight after 1:00 pm on disembarkation day. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy your last day of your cruise, before you head back into the real world. You can enjoy a leisurely sit down breakfast and even spend some time saying bye to your dining room team. They've been with you all throughout your voyage, and they really do add a little extra pixie dust to your vacation. Once you are ready to leave, make your way to the gangway to exit the ship. Tears are optional.

The ship will usually be cleared by US Customs at around 7:30am. Depending on when you exit the ship, you're bound to spend some time in lines as you go through baggage claim and US Customs. The ride to the airport will take about an hour or so, depending on traffic. And then of course, there's almost always a line at the X-Ray/Security line at the airport. An early afternoon flight allows for your sea legs to get used to being back on land without rushing through the morning.

I hope this helps, Jennifer. Please do let us know if you have any additional questions to help you prepare for your vacation. We're always happy to help.

    Happy planning!
