We will be taking our first Disney cruise on the Dream on 12/30. We would love any details on what the NY party. Our daughter will be 7 and our son will be just shy of 3 by that point. Unfort we are the late dinner rotation. Any tips for our 3 year old.

    Hi there, Lissette!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  I know you must be so excited to head to sea with Captain Mickey for the first time!  Planning for it is just the beginning of all the fun that you will have once your vacation gets here!  Your littles are at the perfect age to really enjoy all that a Disney Cruise Line vacation has to offer, and you will make long-lasting memories on this extra special voyage!

I am sad to say that I have yet to head to sea for New Year’s, but I can guarantee you that ringing in the New Year will be extra memorable this year!  I definitely want to do this one day…hopefully sooner than later…because I can’t think of a better place to celebrate the end of one year and start a new one!  While I am not personally familiar with a New Year’s itinerary, my resEARch tells me that you can expect a special-themed menu at dinner as well as a deck party complete with hats, horns and fireworks along with a traditional countdown to the New Year!  Mickey and his friends will be there to help you ring in the New Year as well and they will be dressed to impress!

If you haven’t yet put your name on the waiting list for the main dining time, make sure you contact Disney Cruise Line at (800) 951-3532 to make your request.  We have – more often than not – been assigned second seating but have always been fortunate enough to get off the wait list and given the main seating time before our departure date.  So, definitely have your reservation noted and if you do not receive any updates prior to setting sail, you can always inquire once onboard about changing your dining time.  If you do end up with second seating, I would recommend taking advantage of the Dine and Play option where your server will get your little ones fed quickly and then they can head off with the Youth Counselors to play in the Oceaneer Club and Lab while you finish your meal!  This would also be a great opportunity for you to utilize the onboard nursery for your littlest guy, especially if he has an earlier bedtime.  They have cots and cribs in a separate area of the nursery for littles to rest.

Wishing you the most magical and memorable vacation EVER!

    Happy Sailing!
    Stephanie
