We're taking our first Disney cruise on the Dream & have 6 kids ranging from 5-2 in our group & we're looking for cute ideas to make this special trip even more magical. -leaving little trinket gifts each night from Mickey, door magnets- any others

    Hi, Kimberlie!

Congratulations on your first Disney Cruise Line (DCL) vacation aboard the Disney Dream! I just stepped off the ship and can confidently report that her cast and crew are going to make this a voyage of a lifetime for you and yours!

Have you ever heard of the tradition of "Fish Extenders?" Started by DCL guests on DISboards.com, this is the practice of hanging pockets from the metal fish right outside a stateroom door. Guests communicate on these discussion boards and learn of others on board at the same time. Then, everyone brings small gifts and candy on board to place in each others' pockets -- sort of like trick-or-treating in reverse.  It's a great way to meet people and also introduce children of the same ages.  Of course, on the Disney Dream, you might have to call half of them "Sea Horse Extenders" since the starboard side has sea horses next to stateroom doors!

Another fun practice aboard DCL is when guests bring personal items such as blank pillowcases, hats or t-shirts on board for the characters to sign. Present your items to Guest Services on Embarkation Day, and don't forget to provide Sharpies and the names of the characters you'd like to have sign your items.  Before the end of the voyage, your signed items will be delivered back to your stateroom.

For children as young as yours, you'll want to bring costumes on board if they are into princesses and pirates.  On DCL, there is unprecedented access to the characters, and plenty of photo opportunities. It's so precious to see little ones dressed up like a character and having their pictures taken with those same characters. I hope that gives you some ideas!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation! Bon voyage!
