We're taking our first Disney Cruise on Aug. 20th. We're sailing the Mediterranean, and we're taking our 3.5 year old and 14 mo old. I was trying to book excursions, but 97% of the outings had an age limit of 5 or older. How do you take younger ones?

    Hi Mary,

Many of the shore excursions have age limitations for various reasons. I would suggest utilizing the on board nursery for your children if there is a particular activity that you do not want to miss. Space is limited and can fill up quickly!

To take the kids with you, choose between the excursions that do allow small children or book with a private tour operator. You might also want to tour on your own so that when the kids get tired, you can call it a day.

In La Spezia, we walked to the train station and took the train to Pisa. Enjoy gelato and walk around the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Quaint town and scenic train ride!

In Naples, it's very easy to take the train to Pompeii. Walk to the station, take the train and you'll arrive steps from the ruins!

Some of the tours to Rome can be exceptionally long. We took the train in to Rome and spent the entire day there. We saw the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Vatican (Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica), Pantheon, Trevi Fountain. We were exhausted but it was a great day. With young kids, tailor your day to see less and allow for more breaks. Taking a private tour would allow you to hire a private driver and include an air-conditioned vehicle!

On our cruise, we went to Tunis. For safety reasons, we took a DCL tour. We like touring on our own as with group tours, it seems like most of your time is spent waiting for the group to board the bus, etc.

I hope this helps. If you have additional questions, feel free to contact DCL or stop back and ask more questions!
