Hi! We are taking our first Disney Cruise in April. Our itinerary shows departure at 3:45 from Port Canaveral, but our flight doesn't arrive at Orlando until 2:30. Should we change our flight?

Welcome aboard, Melissa! I'm glad you're planning ahead, because I do believe you will need to change your flight. It takes about an hour to get from the Orlando International Airport to Port Canaveral. Since delays happen and you will need time to get off the airplane, and make your way through the airport, please do check out some other flight options.

My family and I actually prefer to fly in the day before and stay at one of Walt Disney World's Resorts, since we know we will have plenty of time, even in the event of delays. Plus, we can book the Disney Cruise Line Ground Transfers from the resorts to the port. We take the free Disney's Magical Express from the airport to our resort and then book ground transfers through Disney Cruise Line for the next day to the port.

But, we have also flown in in the morning and taken Disney Cruise Line's Ground Transfers right from the airport, with our bags being pulled by Disney and meeting us onboard the ship! That is so convenient! Though there is an extra cost for the transfers, I promise it is the easiest and most relaxing way to transition from land to sea and back again! Currently they cost $35 per person each way. Definitely check those out once you move your flight. The transfers begin around 9:00 a.m. from the airport, and the ship begins boarding around 11:30, with an all aboard around 3:45 as you mentioned. Be sure to find a flight that gets you in as early as possible, because if there is any sort of delay, you don't want to miss the ship!

When planning your flight, if you want to use Disney's Transfers on the way back too, be sure your flight home departs no earlier than 11:30 a.m. to allow enough time to debark, go through customs, and take the motorcoach to the airport.

Stop back if we can help with anything else while you count down to setting sail, Melissa!
