    We are taking our first cruise on Disney Dream in Feb 2016. Is it customary to tip staff taking care of the kids in the Oceaneer Lab?

    Ahoy Kimberly –

    Congratulations on your first cruise! Pretty soon you and your pirate cruise will be “Dream”ing of a fabulous vacation on the high seas! My sea pups loved their time in the Oceaneer Club and the Cast Members there are so amazing. We were impressed that many of the Cast Members took the time and learned the names of our little pirates, and they went the extra mile to ensure a marvelous trip for my crew. After our first experience with the Cast Members in Oceaneer Club and the Nursery, I tried to leave a tip but found out that these jobs are not considered to be “tipped positions”. Now my pirate crew chooses to make a special gift or card while on the ship to express our gratitude for their care. On one of our trips our young pirates made thank you cards and pictures for their favorite Cast Members in Entertainment and Oceaneer Club and it was so nice to see the happiness on both my sea pups and the Cast Members faces! One time, after getting to know an outstanding Cast Member, we mailed him a keepsake after we returned home from our cruise. Kimberly, I hope that you and your crew have an excellent time on the Dream, and please come back to see us again with more questions!
