We are taking a Disney Cruise in Europe. We generally tip the wait staff and stateroom host above and beyond the prepaid gratuities based on the service provided. What type of currency (USD, Euros, GBP, etc) do they like to receive?

Ahoy there, Robert! Thanks for taking the time to sail by planDisney with your question for us.
I’m delighted to see you’ll be sailing in Europe aboard the Disney Fantasy soon. Our family’s first Disney cruise was on the Fantasy so that ship holds a special place in our hearts.

Disney Cruise Line crew members go above and beyond to make Guests’ vacations truly magical. You’ll frequently interface with your stateroom host and dining room wait staff during your cruise. Although we always prepay gratuities prior to sailing, we also bring some extra cash just in case. For example, we hand some small bills to the crew member who drops off our Room Service orders. Toward the end of your sailing, your stateroom steward will place envelopes on your bed during evening turn-down service if you wish to provide extra gratuity. We’ve always brought US Dollars for this since it’s our home currency. I’m quite certain the crew members will be very grateful for your generosity, no matter which currency you give. If you need to exchange your currency on board, this can be done at Guest Services but please note, they will only carry a limited amount of money.

I hope you’ll have a magical time exploring throughout Europe on your upcoming sailing. Please visit us on planDisney again if you have more questions of us!

Hope to SEA ya real soon,
    Kiki

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

Greetings! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes or Disney Cruise Line voyages with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
