We are taking a Disney cruise to Alaska in May and most of the excursions are ages 3 and up. We have 18 month old does that mean she can’t participate or she can’t attend at all?

    Hello, Veronica,

Welcome back to planDisney. My family's first Disney cruise was to Alaska. Although we didn't really think we'd be very interested in cruising, we were definitely interested in visiting Alaska. Since we love Disney, especially visiting the Disneyland Resort, we were interested in giving the Disney Cruise Line a try. Oh boy! We certainly were wrong to think we wouldn't be interested in cruising. Our only regret about choosing that Disney Cruise Line vacation to Alaska is that we didn't do it years sooner! Now, I'm a little jealous that you'll have the precious opportunity to develop that love of cruising with your little Mouseketeer at such a tender young age.

Disney Cruise Line partners with a lot of great tour providers. Each of them does a marvelous job ensuring that everyone has an enjoyable and safe experience. Providers who can safely accommodate infants, toddlers, and other young children, particularly on their included form of transportation from the port, will have those specific age groups listed on the Port Adventures description pages. When you are within your activities booking window, you will also be able to see which Port Adventures offered during your cruise will allow you to add your daughter when making a reservation.

There are some great options for Port Adventures that are well-suited to guests of all ages that may be offered during your Alaskan cruise. For example, in Skagway, I recommend taking in the gorgeous scenery aboard the White Pass Scenic Railway. My family's favorite activity every time we visit Alaska is whale watching. And the Saxman Native Village and Exclusive Lumberjack Show is our favorite of any of the Port Adventures we've done in Ketchikan. Those are a few examples of options that I think may be worth considering for you and your princess to enjoy together. Port Adventures are subject to change and availability for any given sailing. So be sure to check each option when you log in to make your Port Adventure reservations.

I hope that gives some ideas for how you can make the most of your time while in port during your Disney Cruise Line vacation, Veronica. I also recommend you plan some adult-only time during your cruise. "It's a small world" nursery is likely to be a great resource to help make that happen. You can view reservation availability and pricing for "it's a small world" nursery when you log in to book Port Adventures and onboard activities.

I hope you have an amazing cruise, Veronica!
