Ahoy there Carrie and welcome aboard planDisney!
Having flown into San Diego and sailed from her sunny shores in the past on the Disney Wonder, I'm happy to lend a bit of explorer expertise to you ahead of your next
Pacific Coast adventure! You'll be happy to hear that the distance from San Diego International Airport (SAN) to the Cruise Ship Terminal is exceptionally close; in fact it's probably been the
quickest trip I've ever taken before embarking a ship at any Home Port and despite the chance for traffic on North Harbor Drive it's generally always been
an easygoing experience in San Diego. While it's best to keep an eye on any updated information sent to you ahead of your voyage, here are a few additional helpful hints from my experience:
- Once you have arrived and have made your way down to Baggage Claim on the Ground Level, you should be able to spot a Disney Cruise Line representative with a distinctive sign directing you where to go. In my experience, the shuttle was often just on the other side of the large glass windows that look directly out onto the street full of vehicles parked outside.
- Due to the close proximity of the airport to where the ship is docked, the shuttles tended to run continuously throughout the day from early in the morning when the ship has been cleared by local authorities and Express Walk-Off guests are able to debark on their own up until the scheduled All-Aboard time. As the drive itself typically takes less than 10 minutes in either direction, you shouldn't need to wait too long for another shuttle to arrive but it's always good to be mindful that timing and availability are always subject to change without prior notice. Due to this I always advise giving yourself a little extra time just in case traffic or inclement weather causes any delays as you head to the ship!
It's always a good idea to have the
Port Address handy, along with the information that you should have received with the confirmation of your Ground Transportation booking. I hope to see you
back at planDisney again for another splash of nautical knowledge from us before you set sail!
Here's hoping for a short, easy ride and you'll be Almost There!
