I am taking my daughter for the first time to Disney. She is turning 17 yrs old and need your opinion on what hotel do you think I could take her at? I want all the names! I am bringing her for her Bday too.

Hi Dawn Marie!  What an exciting trip for your daughter to be making her first Disney visit!

Of course choosing a Walt Disney World resort depends a lot on the budget for the trip. My absolute first choice for your teenage daughter would be the Grand Floridian. It is regal and sophisticated and from the minute you walk into the lobby to the minute you open your room door you will feel like you are back in time! I love sitting in the lobby and listening to the music every evening either from the pianist or the orchestra. The resort looks out over the Magic Kingdom and is on the monorail loop. This is considered a deluxe resort and thus will have the higher prices for the rooms.

My second choice is also a deluxe and it would be the Yacht Club. This resort is located just steps from Epcot shares the best pool on property with the Beach Club. It is quieter then the Beach Club and has the most wonderful quiet pool that is hardly used. It looks out over the Boardwalk area and has boat access to Hollywood Studios as well.

Moderate resorts are also nice but not within walking or monorail distance to any park.  First choice would be Port Orleans French Quarter and second choice would be Coronado Springs. Both have good pools and some recreation and Port Orleans also has boat access to Downtown Disney. Both now have queen beds in the rooms which is nice from the double beds that were there!

If your budget only allows a Value resort then I would definitely choose Pop Century. It doesn't seem to have as many of the youth groups as the other value resorts attract. More family atmosphere there and really quite cute. The newest value, Art of Animation, would also be a consideration as you can book a family suite giving you two bathrooms. With a teenager that just might be the place to book!

Hope you have a great birthday celebration and if you need more planning help just yell!
