We're taking our daughter to Disney World at the end of Aug, she will be 14 months when we go and we can't wait! We've been to Disney a lot but this is our first time with a child. Just looking for any for the trip or must dos with her! TIA

    Hi Cynthia!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How exciting to plan your first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort with your daughter.

First, I suggest that you review the Planning Guide for Parents of Preschoolers & Small Children. The guide has attraction and activity suggestions for each park. I would also double-check the Attractions List (you can filter the list by park) to see which attractions have height requirements. Magic Kingdom has a number of attractions good for little ones of any height.

Although little ones can be unsure of character meetups, I do suggest that you try a few character dining experiences. Our girls loved Topolino's Terrace - Flavors of the Riviera on our last visit. Minnie Mouse's dress is quite poetic and Daisy Duck glides through the restaurant as a dancer would. Chef Mickey's, The Crystal Palace, Tusker House Restaurant, Akershus Royal Banquet Hall are all some of our favorites for breakfast. Our girls also adore 1900 Park Fare for breakfast or dinner.

With a little one, I encourage you to consider logistics - we purposefully planned to return to the resort for naps when we took our girls on their first visit. We all enjoyed the rest time and felt rejuvenated enough to return to the parks at night for dinner and other shows. Of course, be sure to bring your daughter's favorite snacks and stuffed animals. My girls still bring their stuffed animals and one them actually sews special outfits for hers depending on the theme of our resort.

Decide if you are bringing or renting a stroller. If you bring your own stroller, be sure to create some signage or decorate it so that you can spot it from a distance when you park it to go experience an attraction. I always recommend that families with little ones stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. The Walt Disney World Resort & Theme Park Transportation options are fantastic. Just remember to allow plenty of time to get to and from your resort and theme parks.

If you have not done so already, setup your My Disney Experience account so that you can link your resort hotel, advanced dining reservations and FastPass+ selections. Always check the park hours for the dates of your visit.

Cynthia, no matter what the weather forecast indicates, always come prepared for rain. We bring ponchos and at least two umbrellas for the four of us. Those umbrellas have also provided much needed shade in the July and August heat as we waited for parades to start!

Sending you pixie dust as you plan!

    Magic and memories,
