We are taking my daughter (age 10) and my niece (age 11) on the Disney Wish the first week of April. My niece turns 11 in February. Is she going to be able to go to the Oceaneer club with my daughter? We are not sending them to separate clubs.

Welcome back to planDisney, Kelly! Thank you for trusting us to help with your planning needs.

What a fun adventure you are planning with your daughter and niece aboard the Disney Wish! I can't wait for you to step into what feels like a castle at sea with Captains Minnie and Mickey.

I'm going to be completely honest with you: as a fellow mother who just experienced dealing with the strict age rules at Disney's Oceaneer Club, I don't have the news to share that you are hoping to hear. During secured programming times, your 11-year-old niece will not be allowed to enter the Oceaneer Club. However, I promise that there WILL be some excellent opportunities for the two of them to enjoy the entertainment and activities geared toward kids their age together.

Disney's Oceaneer Club will have specific Open House times when kids of any age can come and play. This will be the time that your daughter and niece can check out activities like creating a virtual rollercoaster, stepping into the world of Star Wars, or trying out their superhero skills. Open House times will be listed in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App's Daily Activity Schedule which will be available to view once you are on the ship.

Have you heard of Disney's Edge? This is the space for tweens to hang out on the ship! With your permission, your 10-year-old can be granted access to this fun space, and this is where the girls can hang out together almost anytime during the cruise! I recommend that you stop by Edge with your daughter after you enjoy lunch on embarkation day to check out the space, meet the fun counselors who lead activities, and decide if you'd like to grant permission for your daughter to visit Edge.

My daughter met so many friends at Edge on our most recent cruise. They'd hang out in Edge, but they'd also venture out to trivia games, karaoke, and poolside ice cream breaks. One day, a group of them enjoyed a sit-down lunch together at one of the restaurants onboard. My daughter was in heaven with all of the independence she had and she still connects with some of the friends she made.

I just know that this upcoming trip will be filled to the brim with magical memories for you and your sailing crew. If you have more questions, we'll be here to help answer them! Please sail back to us at planDisney any time.

    Happy Planning,

    Adrianna
