We are taking a cruise on the Wonder to Alaska this summer. I see there is a laundry facility on board, could you please tell me how much to plan for a load of laundry to wash and dry? Thank you.

    Hi, Brenda!

I'm with ya on this!  Our family of six is also planning for this itinerary next month, and I'm starting to make lists and piles. It's going to take a lot of clothing to keep warm. Therefore, we're going to need to wash a few things and wear some repeats, for sure.

I recently took a tour of the Guest Laundry Rooms aboard the Disney Dream which operates its washers, dryers and laundry products on a cashless system.  A guest simply swipes his/her stateroom key to be charged for the laundry facilities/products. What I neglected to find out was exactly how much the services and products cost.

For the Disney Wonder (and the Disney Magic), I know that there are coin-operated washers, dryers and laundry-product vending machines. However, many aspects of the ships are being upgraded, and I'm not certain if the Guest Laundry Rooms aboard the two original ships are going to the cashless system, too.  To give you an idea, I remember the cost for washing and drying a small load was around $1 each on board a few years ago. (Of course, you can always count on the dryer possibly taking more than one cycle to get completely dry.)

If it helps you, I'm planning on doing a little laundry while on board and packing my own detergent. I'm hoping that I can swipe my stateroom key for the use of the laundry services while on board the Disney Wonder. However, if not, I'm sure that I'll be able to bring a little cash to get change or  to use in the machines. And, if your voyage is later in the summer, be sure to write me back for a full report...I'll be brimming with tips once I return!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
