We are taking a cruise in September 15- 19. Our daughter and will turn 3 on the 27th of September. Can we sign a waiver for her to be able to join the activities that are for 3 year olds?

    Ahoy, Sally!

Welcome aboard planDisney! How exciting that your little sailor is about to celebrate her third birthday! What a magical milestone—and a Disney cruise adventure is the perfect way to get into the birthday spirit.

When it comes to the Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, Disney keeps a strict age policy—no waivers or exceptions, even if a little one is just a few days shy of a birthday. Your daughter will need to officially be 3 years old and fully toilet trained before she can join in on the programming hours at the Oceaneer Club or Lab. If she were to turn 3 during your sailing, she could start exploring those spaces on her birthday, but until then, she’ll have to wait for her own “big kid” moment to arrive.

I completely understand this isn’t the answer you were wishing for, but there’s still plenty of magic waiting for your little cruiser. Be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once onboard for Open House times in the Oceaneer Club and Lab. These are perfect opportunities for the entire family to explore together—no age limits, just fun! My family has had the best time popping in during Open House hours to experience the spaces firsthand—it’s a great way to sneak a peek at what she has to look forward to on future cruises.

Depending on which ship you’re sailing, there’s even more for younger sailors to enjoy. The Hero Zone on the Disney Wish, Treasure, and soon-to-sail Destiny is fantastic for little ones to run, climb, and play. On the Disney Dream and Fantasy, the mini golf course on Goofy's Sports Deck is always a hit for the whole family. And of course, don’t forget about “it’s a small world” nursery!—the amazing Cast Members there are simply the Fairy Godmothers of fun, keeping little ones entertained and happy while parents enjoy a bit of grown-up time.

I hope this helps as you chart your course for an unforgettable adventure at sea. Your little sailor may not be quite ready for the Oceaneer Club just yet, but there’s still plenty of magic to discover together as a family. Wishing you smooth sailing and moments that will have you humming Disney tunes long after you’re back on shore!

Sea ya real soon with a July full of fireworks at sea and memories that sparkle like pixie dust,
