Ahoy there, Dustin! Welcome aboard planDisney!
I see you're scheduled to arrive in two days, so I'll dispense with the dad jokes and the puns and get right down to it!
As you're probably aware the current "Know Before You Go" information requires that fully vaccinated Guests on sailings departing US and Canadian ports must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the Guest) taken no more than 2 days before setting sail to be exempt from embarkation testing at the terminal.
The real answer to your question falls into the "it depends" category, because while antigen tests are acceptable, they must be observed or proctored, and can't be a standard home test. Again from the latest requirements:
- Antigen tests must be completed using a proctored telehealth service and come with digital results that can be uploaded to the Safe Passage website. A nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) or PCR test also is acceptable.
My suggestion since your crew is all over three years old is that you find a local pharmacy that is doing either type of test today and make it happen! That way you will have results that you can upload to the Safe Passage website by midnight prior to embarkation day! If you aren't able to do so, you'll have to test at the port when you arrive at a higher cost to you than if you do it locally!
One other option if your local pharmacies don't have tests available is to consider Urgent Care - when we sailed on the Disney Wish this July, we had to get our one-year-old tested with a PCR test, and pharmacies don't test patients under 3! A small scramble and 15 minutes for results later, we were uploading his info into Safe Passage and were clear to arrive!
I hope that helps you set a course for a quick adventure today for your bigger adventure this week, Dustin! Thank you for your question, and if any others arise as you finish these last-minute checks, please drop us another line here at planDisney!
I wish you fair winds, following seas, and favorable test results!
Andrew
