Taking 1st cruise with my boys, 18 & 17 on Disney Dream April '12. Since DS is 18 and teen club is from 13-17, what is there for him to do? Can he access the teen club since he's still in high school? This is a graduation present for him :)

    Hi, Teresa!

Congratulations on your first cruise aboard the Disney Dream next year -- you and your boys are going to think you're living a dream when you sail!

I have a 16-year-old son, and I'm starting to anticipate that dilemma in a couple of years when he's in that "limbo" stage aboard Disney Cruise Line. You really have an option. Once you're on board, I suggest visiting Vibe -- the teen-exclusive area -- during the Open House on Embarkation Day.  (That's the only time parents are welcome there.) Your two sons can take a look at the space and get to know the counselors, and you can ask them if this is somewhere they would like to hang out together.  Vibe has great indoor and outdoor options as well as opportunities to hang out with others or pull away for some quiet time alone.

Alternatively, your 18-year-old has the option of hanging out with other 18-21 year-olds (college-aged kids). There are no counselors for this group, but there are opportunities provided for them to get together at various times and places to hang out -- lunch, club hopping and beach time at Castaway Cay. In addition, the adult areas are made available to guests 18 and older -- so your son can visit the spa, fitness center, quiet pool and even the adult clubs and lounges. The cast and crew designate underage guests in clubs, bars and lounges and will not serve alcohol to them.

I hope that helps and congratulations on almost having a graduate -- what a bittersweet rite of parenting! Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
