I am taking my children to Disney this December. They are 7 and 8. My question is this are we all going to be able to ride the rides together or will we have to take turns because of their ages? I will be going on all the rides with them as well.

    Hi Martina!

Welcome to planDisney! How exciting to plan a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort! I am always delighted to greet a fellow North Carolinian.

It looks like you should be ok, even if you are the only adult traveling with them. According to the Walt Disney World Property Rules, Guests under 7-years old must be accompanied by a Guest 14-years or older so your children can technically ride together and you could ride alone. Having said this, kids at the age of yours can be frightened, so keep that in mind. Your little ones may be fiercely adventurous or not.

If you have not done so already, check the Attractions List to review the height requirements. And, trust me, it is perfectly fine to skip a few attractions that you think they may not be ready to do. When our girls were 7-years old, I let them ride Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith and one of my girls was just barely tall enough to ride. Her ears were badly positioned with the safety restraint and she was miserable for the entire ride. Now, she loves that attraction, but she's taller so that helped!

At their ages, I also encourage you to try a few lesser-known activities. At Disney's Animal Kingdom, I love The Animation Experience at Conservation Station. Taking the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch is lovely and the entire experience provides a nice way to slow down while in the park. At Disney's Animal Kingdom, our girls also loved doing the Wilderness Explorers activities.

Given the time of year you plan to visit, you will get to enjoy The Holidays at Walt Disney World Resort! We love visiting during this time of year. The parks and resorts are beautifully decorated. When we visited this past  December, we did an Olaf Holiday Tradition Scavenger Hunt in EPCOT and it was so much fun. Keep your eye on the Disney Parks Blog for news about holiday activities for this year.

Martina, I still remember the trip we took when our girls were 7-years old. It was such a perfect trip in so many ways, in part because we had extended family with us. My cousin and I decided to do a girls' trip with our girls and our moms. I am also happy to see that you will be there during The World's Most Magical Celebration. Your visit is going to be magical. Just keep planning!

    Magic and memories,
    Donyell
