I will be taking my 5 and almost 9 year olds to Disneyworld for the first time next spring. If there was something you wish you knew before you went what would that be?

Wow Noreen!  That's the best question I've read in a long time.  Thanks so much for posting it to the Moms Panel.

If there's one thing every first-time guest should know about visiting Walt Disney World, it would be that there's no possible way to do it all in one trip.  That is not meant to discourage you.  It's actually quite exciting to think that there's so much to discover in one vacation destination.  I want people to know this because it helps them to have more realistic expectations for their first Walt Disney World experience.

Sit down with your kids before your trip and look at the Walt Disney World website or some guide books.  Everyone in your travel party should make a list of the top three things they want to do in each of the Disney theme parks.  Put those attractions on a must-do list and plan your daily itinerary around them.  Then everyone will walk away happy.  Anything you get to see and do beyond the activities on the list is a bonus.

If I could slip two more suggestions into my response I'd tell you to build some periods of rest into your daily schedule.  Parents and children will be happier if everyone is well rested as they visit the parks.  And finally, a little pre-planning will make your vacation more magical.  Decide which table service restaurants you'd like to try next spring and then call (407) WDW-DINE 180 days before your trip to make reservations.  Let the Moms Panel know if you need any suggestions.  Personally, I just love questions about Disney dining.

Wishing you and your family a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust!
