Batter up, Kimberly! Thanks for coming out of the bullpen with this homerun-of-a question! Here at planDisney, we love America's Pastime, so let's look at the policies in place for the upcoming Banana Ball event at
ESPN Wide World of Sports (WWOS).
First of all, big congratulations on scoring tickets to this ballgame! I entered the lottery but struck out in scoring admission. But I'm thrilled for you and can't wait to hear how it goes!
Policies can vary by event at this venue, so I called and chatted with a heavy-hitting Cast Member named Phil. He said guests will not be allowed to set up picnics or tailgates in the parking lot. Since there's no designated tailgating area, setting up tables and chairs would pose a safety hazard.
I know this isn't the news you were hoping to hear, but you are welcome to eat a bite in your vehicle, and goodness knows I've scarfed my share of fast food in my car! There will also be concession stands selling food and snacks throughout the venue. Have you even been to a baseball game if you haven't eaten some salty, buttery popcorn?
Just so you know, the Banana Ball page for this event specifies that a clear-bag policy will be in place. And among prohibited items, I see folding chairs, tents, coolers, and oversized beach towels. This policy applies to any location on the ESPN WWOS property for these games. You can read the details by clicking "Learn More" under
"A Fun-Filled Twist on Traditional Baseball."But I do have some good news! If you're in the mood to have fun before the game, you can enjoy a "Pre Game Plaza" event beginning at 3:30 PM. Live performances, merchandise, and interactive games should keep you entertained until the first pitch. Do I sound jealous? Maybe a little! But mostly I'm excited for you.
My final tip is to reach out to Guest Services by clicking "Contact Us" at the bottom of the
ESPN home page. An email form should pop up where you can submit specific questions.
I remember when my son was young, several major league teams came to ESPN WWOS for spring training. After the game, my son was able to run the bases and meet some players. Talk about a core memory! I hope you make some magical memories, too.
Kimberly, it's time for the seventh-inning stretch, so I'll close for now. Have a fantastic time, and stop by
planDisney again. We root-root-root for the home team around here!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
