Can you swim at the beach at the Polynesian Resort? I'm coming with 2 grandsons ages 2 & 5. Is the Polynesian the best choice?

    Aloha Beatrice!

It just so happens that Disney's Polynesian Resort is my absolute favorite resort hotel at Walt Disney World. I stayed there for the first time 30 years ago and I've been hooked ever since!

You asked a great question, but unfortunately guests are asked to refrain from swimming in the Seven Seas Lagoon. There's a lot of boat traffic near the shoreline, so it's not very safe.

However, the beach is still a fun place to hangout and build sand castles, play games, or even just sit and relax in a hammock. In the evenings, a lot of guests enjoy sitting on the beach to watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom.

As far as swimming goes, there are two incredible pools to choose from. The larger volcano pool has an awesome water slide (from which you'll probably have to pry your older grandson away from) and a smaller pool that's quieter and way less crowded.

Every resort hotel at Walt Disney World has its own unique theme and amenities, so you'll find die-hard fans for each one of them. I just happen to be a die-hard fan of Disney's Polynesian Resort!

Here are a few tips from your buddy Derek:

    1) Every afternoon, children visiting the volcano pool are invited to play some really fun games (and win prizes too!).

    2) At 6:00 PM (Tuesdays - Saturdays), a Torch Lighting Ceremony is held on the ground floor of the Great Ceremonial House (the main building). It's way cool!

    3) In the evenings, there's a campfire on the beach where you can roast marshmallows. Afterwards, they setup a large blow-up screen on the beach and show Disney movies.

I'm just beginning to scratch the surface, but I hope I at least was able to reassure you that you definitely picked an amazing resort hotel! If you should have any further questions, please feel free to write back and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
