Hi Susan. Thanks for the reply about ADR advice. My son will be 12 when we are at WDW! my other son will be 5. Any restaurants etc you advice would be appreciated. We do have Orlando flex tickets as well so we wont be dining at disney every day. Thanks

    Hi Ian!

I am very happy to suggest some dining locations for you.  As you are staying at Disney's Yacht Club Resort, there are two good restaurants at that resort - Captain's Grille and Yachtsman Steakhouse (a family favourite).

Character dining - if your son is celebrating his birthday a great place to have dinner would be Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort.   It is a fun, lively experience, with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and Donald.  Others I would recommend are The Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom park, in a beautiful conservatory setting, featuring Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet; and The Garden Grill at Epcot - the restaurant rotates very very slowly, so the scenery is constantly changing, and you will meet Mickey, Pluto, Chip 'n' Dale. (Please note, characters can be subject to change.)

Other fun restaurants are Rainforest Cafe (at Downtown Disney or Animal Kingdom theme park); T-Rex (Downtown Disney); Whispering Canyon Cafe (at Disney's Wilderness Lodge Resort).

Ghirardelli's Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop (at Downtown Disney) serves wonderful ice cream sundaes, as does Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney's Beach Club Resort (immediately adjacent to the Yacht Club Resort).

For the birthday boy, you can pick up a Birthday Button from the front desk of your resort, or Guest Relations at any theme park - he will attract a lot of (good) attention if he wears this all day!   You can request a six-inch vanilla or chocolate birthday cake at the podium of most table-service restaurants when you arrive (no pre-ordering required), or contact the cake hotline  (US number) 00-1-407-827-2253 for something more elaborate, which can be delivered to your dining table.

I am limited for space here, but if you have any other questions, please come back and ask me!
