Surprising kids DS9 & DD5 with trip 11/29-12/7, not telling until we get to airport! Any clever ideas for the big reveal? 12/1 is my b'day, so it's my dream b'day vacation!

It sounds like you are not only planning an awesome birthday trip for yourself but also a great surprise for your children. It has to be hard to keep it a secret as you are making all the plans!

I am sure you will have to explain why you are ending up at the airport once you arrive. I like to keep it a secret until we are at the gate but if you do that you are going to have to keep the children away from the check in desk or outside baggage desk as they will likely say the destination at some point. Once you get to the gate your son will be able to read the signs and will know so you might want to surprise them immediately when you arrive at the gate or just before.

I suggest you get some Mickey ears ordered and engraved with their names. You might also get t-shirts that they can put on over the shirts they are wearing! I would do a surprise bag and have these items inside and do one for each child. You can include a plush Mickey too and maybe a Disney treat for the airplane.  You can also order them a Disney gift card which can be their spending money during the trip. You can also do this with Disney Dollars. Your children will be so excited you will have to peel them off the walls.

Now for you....the trip alone will be a wonderful birthday gift to yourself but you should also plan something special for your big day. Check to see if there are any fireworks cruises available for you and the family. You can add a birthday cake to the drinks and snacks that are on each boat. Whatever you decide to do on 12/1 make sure it is something that will keep you smiling and a memory that will last your lifetime!
