I am surprising my husband with a trip to Disneyland on his 50th birthday in March. Besides adding a cake with the dinner reservation, and booking Walt’s Main Street Story tour, are there any other tours or things I can book to make his day extra special?

    Hi there, Susy!

Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question. Happy early birthday to your husband! Disneyland Resort is my family's celebration destination, and it is the best place to celebrate a special birthday. You are going to love Walt's Main Street Story Tour! Visiting Walt Disney's apartment above Main Street U.S.A. was an indescribable moment that I will never forget.

One of my favorite celebratory experiences is the World of Color Dessert Party in Disney California Adventure Park. Enjoy tasty treats, desserts, and drinks while sitting in a dedicated viewing area to watch World of Color - One. Sitting down in real chairs to watch this incredible Nighttime Spectacular is the perfect way to end a day celebrating your husband! I suggest checking in at least 45 minutes before the Dessert Party begins, as the Cast Members often let Guests choose their table (based on availability). Since I am short, I prefer a high-top table when I am traveling without my kids. When they are with me, I request a low-top table to make it easier for them to stand up and move around a bit.

When you arrive at Disneyland Resort, stop by City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park to request a complimentary "I'm Celebrating" button for your husband. This is an easy way to let Cast Members and other Guests know he is celebrating a special birthday! If your husband really wants to make a statement, this Mickey Mouse ''Happy Birthday'' Ear Hat will do just that!

In my family, a birthday celebration often revolves around food. Did you know that the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is taking place during your visit in March? I recommend setting aside one afternoon to sample the local cuisine at the different Marketplace Kiosks. The Disney Parks Blog recently shared a Foodie Guide for the Festival. I can't wait to try it all! Your husband may also be interested in one of the Festival's Beverage Education & Tasting Seminars or Carthay Circle Winemaker Receptions

Susy, I hope your husband has a magical birthday at Disneyland Resort! Please feel free to contact me again if you have more questions!
