Hi Daphne,
How thoughtful of you to surprise your husband and son with a
fishing excursion at
Disney's Wilderness Lodge! My son and husband went on one of those adventures a few years ago and it continues to be one of their favorite memories from Walt Disney World. Father-son bonding time on beautiful Bay Lake as the world is waking up is simply priceless!
As you know, 7:30 a.m. is really early and there is no direct Disney transportation between
Disney's Pop Century Resort and Disney's Wilderness Lodge. If Magic Kingdom Park is scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on the day of the fishing excursion, your husband and son could take a 6:45 a.m. bus to Magic Kingdom Park and then transfer to a bus to Disney's Wilderness Lodge. However, that's cutting things too close. Instead, I would call an inexpensive car service at least the day before and ask that they pick your husband and son up at your home resort at 6:45 a.m. and drive them directly to the Lodge. I have done this before and it cost about $20. Then your husband and son will be at Disney's Wilderness Lodge by 7:15 a.m. which will give them just enough time to walk at a leisurely pace to the marina behind the resort. This will completely avoid a stressful start to what will no doubt be a magical day.
Be sure to send your fellows off with sunscreen, baseball caps, light jackets and a camera. My son came home with some spectacular photos of him holding rather impressive looking bass before they were returned to Bay Lake. The ship captains are quite good at capturing photos during the excursion.
Wishing you many magical memories on your upcoming vacation,
Jill
