    I want to surprise my wife by going to Disney before a cruise. Can I buy the tickets and assign them the day before we go to the park. It will be 3 of us.

    It’s hard to top the fun of combining a visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth with Where Magic Meets the Sea. My family is doing something similar later this year. We’ll be enjoying Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party before setting sail on a Very Merrytime Cruise, and we cannot wait! You’re in for an incredible start to your vacation.

    The short answer to your question is, yes, you can make this surprise work, even right from the palm of your hand with the My Disney Experience app. The only potential hiccup would be if a park reached capacity and tickets for that date became unavailable. That’s pretty rare, and typically only happens during high-traffic holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas week.

    To keep your surprise under wraps and still be safe, here are a few options you could consider:

    • Purchase now and reassign later – Buy the tickets today in your name. If you select a dated 1-Day, 1-Park Ticket for a specific park, that date is essentially locked in for you. Then, the day before or even the morning of your visit, you can reassign the tickets to your wife and the rest of your party through your Family & Friends (a special thank you to Donyell!) list in the app.
    • Buy in person on the day – Arrive early (“rope drop”) and head to Guest Relations at the park entrance to purchase tickets before you enter.
    • Buy at your Disney Resort Collection hotel – If you’re staying at a Disney resort before your cruise, you can purchase tickets from a Cast Member right in the lobby without your wife suspecting a thing.

    Whichever route you take, I’m sure your wife will be thrilled you’ve gone the extra mile to make this trip unforgettable.
