SURPRISE!! 1st WDW trip for my kiddos 5 and 11.. Need ideas how to tell them!! We fly out in August and would like to wait until the last minute to tell them :)

    Hi there, Christy!

You are going to have so much fun on your trip to the Walt Disney World Resort!  It truly is such a joy to see the first reactions of a child when they arrive for the very first time.

If you want to wait to the very last minute, have the car already packed with bags and have every get in the car.  Refrain from telling them you are going to the airport.  If they begin to ask questions about where they are going, give evasive but curiously fun responses.  When you are ready, have some Disney music cued up and ready to go and shout, "We're going to Disney World!"  I still recall the time we did that.  My son literally had tears of joy.

Another one of my favorite ways to surprise kids is to purchase a Disney puzzle in advance.  They have many different kinds at places like Target.  Put the puzzle together yourself and then write, "We are going to Walt Disney World!" in black Sharpie.  Disassemble the puzzle and have them work on it together when you want to reveal the surprise.  It is so much fun.

I hope this helps you, Christy.  Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

I wish you a truly magical vacation!
