I have a surprise vacation booked for my family in January 2015 (Soo excited!) My kids are 13, 12, and 9 (two oldest are boys) are there any restaurants that we shouldn't miss? We have the DDP and don't want to miss a great experience.

    Deb:

According to my two younger boys ages 14 and 9, their favorite, don't-miss restaurants include:
    • 'Ohana: My growing 14-year-old loves the all-you-can-eat shrimp and beef. My younger guy likes that if I time our reservation right, we can see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the restaurant. I like that the Polynesian sits on the monorail, making it easy to access without having to use a park ticket.
    • Chef Mickey's: This remains my youngest's favorite restaurant because he can  have all the sweets he can eat. (Do you see a pattern here?) I prefer to book one of the latest breakfast reservations I can so that we can enjoy it for brunch/lunch after getting to the Magic Kingdom early.
    • Biergarten: With six in our family, I find it difficult to please everyone all the time. But this buffet offers meat and potatoes fare and something for everyone. We all enjoy the entertainment, including the chicken dance.
    • California Grill: The view at sunset is remarkable. The food is just as spectacular. Portions are plentiful. You'll use up two of your dining plan credits but the plan offers so much food, I doubt you'll miss them. Schedule this evening at the end of your vacation to cap off the week.
    • Coral Reef: One of the best restaurants to get your value out of the meal plan, its surf-and-turf entrees make my mouth water. You'll dine in view of a fish tank that encompasses one entire wall of the restaurant. Truly memorable.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
