I want to surprise my husband and tell him I’m pregnant! I’d love to do it on Rise of the Resistance, as we are huge Star Wars fans. The cast members do such an amazing job and I would like to include them in someway. Any ideas to pull off my vision?

Bright Suns, Zoe, and welcome to planDisney. First things first, congratulations! I am writing this with a big smile on my face as I'm imagining all the ways you can surprise your husband with the very special news about your growing family. Let's plan a galactic reveal!

Zoe, I am also a fan of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – it's an incredible adventure! However, expectant mothers are advised not to ride this attraction, likely because of the sudden turns and the small drop. But fear not – I have some other ideas for this mission.

    • There is a PhotoPass location right in front of the Millennium Falcon, and a photographer is there to take photos against the iconic backdrop. Wouldn't it be amazing to capture the special moment on camera? As the picture is being taken, you can pull out a onesie that says, "The Force is strong with this one." Or, you could tell him you have an incoming transmission and hand him a box with a note inside that says, "A new life-form is forming in the Force. Prepare the crib, Jedi." Sometimes, Guests hand the photographer a note to give them a heads up that there will be a surprise. However, it's okay if you don't do that, because the photographers are practiced at capturing special moments like this!
    • Head to Oga's Cantina for a meal or drinks. During a trip to the restroom, track down your server and let them know you want to surprise your husband with special news. Perhaps the server can ask if you'd like anything for the third member of your crew, or they can mention they sense something new in the Force, gesturing towards you. After your husband is briefly confused, you can make your announcement. There is an excellent menu of nonalcoholic concoctions here, by the way!
    • Make a reservation to assemble a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. You can prepare a message in a nice envelope in advance of the trip and discreetly ask the Cast Member if they can give it to your husband as an incoming transmission once the lightsaber is complete. Or, you can hand it to him. It can say something like, "You are now the guardian of a future Jedi. Your training as a father begins today."
    • If you want to incorporate Rise of the Resistance, you can go to a Cast Member at the entrance of the attraction and ask if expectant mothers can ride, and then casually walk away when they recommend not to.
    • Get reservations for Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo Nighttime Gathering. You'll enjoy a great meal and dessert, and get access to a special viewing area for Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga. On nights when there are fireworks at the Disneyland Resort, you may also be able to watch the amazing Fire of the Rising Moons show. As the show is nearing its finale, you could tell him the good news. Just know the area can get busy immediately after the show ends.

Zoe, while these ideas may not have been your initial vision, I hope they excite you for the surprise that is ahead. It's so sweet that you are planning to share this news with your husband in a way that incorporates your shared love of Star Wars. If you think of any other questions ahead of this special visit, please reach out. We're always happy to help. On behalf of all of us at planDisney, congratulations, and may the Force be with you!
