Hi! Want to surprise hubby in Dec. Debating between Holiday D-Lights & Yuletide Fantasy tours. Is the Holiday D-Lights worth the cost over Yuletide? Also do you think its worth giving up staying @ AKL & staying @ POR instead to do the tour? Thanks!

    Hi Jeannie,

I'm a huge fan of the tours at Walt Disney World!  It's such a great way to interact with the Cast Members who make the magic at my favorite vacation destination.  Overall, I think the tours are well worth the cost.  (If you are a Chase Disney Visa cardholder, don't forget to ask for the discount on your tour).

In your situation, I may be inclined to choose the Yuletide Fantasy tour instead of the Holiday D-Lights Tour.  The Yuletide Fantasy tour is a huge bargain, comparatively, and you still get to go behind the scenes to see how Disney prepares its parks for the holiday season.  It doesn't include the Candlelight Processional but you could do that on your own.  Similarly, there is no meal included with the Yuletide Fantasy tour but you could easily choose a place to dine by yourself.

I have many friends who simply adore Disney's Port Orleans Resort.  I think you'd be very happy at either Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge or Disney's Port Orleans Resort.  If either you are your husband are big animal fans, then Disney's Port Orleans Resort would not be a good replacement resort.  Otherwise, I'd be comfortable suggesting you downgrade your accommodations to a moderate resort in order to accommodate your choice to experience one of Disney's incomparable behind-the-scenes tours.

Best wishes for an inspiring December vacation!
