Hi, there!
Welcome to planDisney, Amy. I'm so happy you stopped by and even happier to hear you're
planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation! It's the very best kind, if you ask me.
Your daughter is going to be so excited when she is surprised with a Disney vacation on Christmas morning. How very merry! Several years ago, the Walt Disney World Resort would send vacation planning materials that included a booklet and even a DVD. My kids just LOVED watching those planning DVD's! They thought it was so much fun to spot their favorite Disney Characters and theme park attractions. These vacation planning materials would be the perfect thing to gift your daughter on Christmas morning, but unfortunately, they are no longer available, likely due to
Disney's commitment to sustainability efforts. But not to fret! I have a few alternative ideas.
As a mom of three, I curb the "gimmes" for my family's Disney vacations by gifting each of my kids a Disney Gift Card. They know the amount of money on the gift card is their set souvenir budget, so they use it with intentionality.
Disney Store has the cutest Disney Gift Card designs available! You select a design, designate an amount, and then personalize a matching gift card carrier. It makes a great gift! Not only could you use it to surprise your daughter with your Disney vacation, but then she can also use it for spending money during your stay.
Another option would be to gift your daughter a book. As a 1st grade teacher, I always encourage gifting books! Depending on her age, you may want to purchase a few Little Golden Books that feature popular Walt Disney World attractions (my daughter loves these!), a beginner's chapter book like "Where is Walt Disney World" by Joan Holub, or, if she's a bit older, an unofficial Disney vacation planning book. You have lots of choices!
I hope this was helpful, Amy. Please let us know if you have any other questions about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! We'd love to help you plan a magical stay.
