I want to make sure I understand the Park Hopper Pass, in one day (for example) I can go to the Animal Kingddom, MGM, and back to the Animal Kingdom that night for the extended hours, is that right?

With the park hopper option added to your Magic Your Way ticket, you can hop between all four theme parks on your touring day. Many guests start at one park in the morning and return in the evening for a different park's entertainment. The four parks available with a park hopper are Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Without the park hopper option, you would need to stay in a single park all day or if you left the park, you would have to return to that same park later in the day. For example, if you started your day in the Animal Kingdom, you would have to spend your whole day there. If you left, you would only be able to return to the Animal Kingdom that evening.

Extra Magic Hours are for resort guests only. So if you are staying at a WDW resort, you can take advantage of the morning and/or evening Extra Magic Hours. Without the park hopper option, you would not be able to start at the Magic Kingdom in the morning and then hop to the Animal Kingdom's evening Extra Magic Hours. It is okay to tour the parks without the park hopper as long as you do some advanced planning on which days you'll be in each park!

Your above example would work with the park hopper option!
