    Hello.....we want to be sure a cruise we book will have 5K fun run at Castaway Cay. How can we tell if a run is planned before we book? Thanks!

    Ahoy, Maureen!

    I love answering a question that deals with my favorite place in all the world, Disney's private island, Castaway Cay! A beautiful island with a Disney touch, it's a highlight of any Disney Cruise itinerary.

    I can tell you from experience that there has been a 5K held on the island on every cruise I've been on. It's the norm for them to host the 5K each time one of the Disney ships visits Castaway Cay. That being said, it is always subject to change.

    Each day, you'll receive a Personal Navigator - a detailed schedule of all the fun activities happening on your cruise. If the Castaway Cay 5K is going to take place, it will be listed in your Navigator with times and locations to meet and sign up for the race. You'll most likely see the race listed the night before you arrive at the island, but you can certainly stop by the Guest Services Desk once you board the ship to ask about the 5K.

    The race course loops all around the island, and is a fun way to tour Disney's island paradise (and to work off some of the calories from all the delicious food you'll be eating)! There's a water stop at the halfway mark, and you'll receive a cute runDisney commemorative medal when you finish. T-shirts will also be for sale on the island.

    Now, all you need to do is decide which cruise to choose! Simply choose an itinerary that visits Castaway Cay, and you're all set to lace up your running shoes and enjoy the Castaway Cay 5K!
