Suppose I am staying at a Disney hotel, I am willing to buy Genie+ and individual lightning lanes for the day. It is 7 am. In what order should I book virtual queues, Genie+ attractions and individual lanes if popular attractions may vanish in seconds?

Hiya Hamilton, Welcome to planDisney! Thank you for stopping by with your excellent question. I'm thrilled to assist you! How exciting that you're planning a trip to Walt Disney World Resort! You are sure to make awesome memories at The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Currently, Disney Genie Service is offered through the My Disney Experience app, is a complimentary tool for guests to use when planning their days in the parks.

If your visit is before July 24, 2024, you can access the Lightning Lane at select attractions if you have purchased Disney Genie+ for the day. Disney Genie+ is available for purchase when the clock strikes midnight on the day of your visit. Disney Genie+ is a service that will let you pick attraction return times for your day at a theme park. Starting at 7:00 AM, you can choose one attraction from the list of all that are available, and a return time. You can make a second attraction return time after you have used the first one, or after two hours, whichever comes first. Not all attractions are available with Genie+.

Individual Lightning Lane entry can be purchased a la carte and is a pay per ride service. You would do this for attractions that are not offered through Disney Genie+, such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle/Run (if you're not able to get a virtual queue). Individual Lightning Lane entry can be purchased starting at 7:00 AM on the day of your visit if staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. Guests staying off property can make their purchase when the parks open.

Beginning July 24th, Disney Genie+ service will become Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lane will now be known as Lightning Lane Single Pass. When you purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you may make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections in a theme park, in advance of your visit. You’ll also be able to choose available times as you make your selections. You'll also be able to make more Lightning Lane selections as you use them. On the day of your visit, once you use a selection, check the My Disney Experience app for availability to make an additional selection. Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels will be able to plan Lightning Lane passes up to 7 days in advance, for their entire stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can plan up to 3 days in advance.

Lightning Lane Single Pass will allow advance bookings. Lightning Lane Single Pass is a pay per ride service and will work much like it does today, where you can secure a time to ride one of our most highly demanded attractions, but you’ll now be able to make your purchase and plan in advance.

I hope you find this information helpful as you prepare for your visit to Walt Disney World, Hamilton. Thank you again for visiting planDisney! We'll see ya real soon!
