Hi! Super new to the Magic Bands (and Magic Bands+). We would like to buy them for our April trip and it's January. Can/should we pick them now and would they be sent to our house, or is too early?

    Hello Chuck!

Welcome to planDisney! I have a problem. I'm obsessed with MagicBands. I remember when they first started being tested in the Parks and I saw a guest on the bus wearing one. I found out after some conversation that she was a Cast Member and they were starting to test this new band. It was not colorful and had no designs but it was very cool. I wanted one. I now own quite a few of them and I love them!

I have a habit of buying a new one for every trip! Chuck, once you make a reservation at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel you can immediately begin choosing and purchasing your discounted MagicBand or MagicBand+. It is definitely not too early and a great way to begin your magical countdown! When ordering, make sure that it is at least 11 days before you arrive so that you can have it shipped to your home in time. It's such a magical moment when the mailman drops off this lovely package. MagicBand and MagicBand2 are the original bands used in the parks. They will let you enter the parks, and Lightning Lane entrances, make purchases, and are waterproof. These bands are not rechargeable and end up having a battery that tends to fade away after a few years. The MagicBand+ is the next generation of MagicBand and they have a rechargeable battery, light up, vibrate plus do everything else that the original MagicBands do. The MagicBand+ bands are also bicoastal in that you can use them at Disneyland Resort in California!

If you are within the 10 to 6-day window from your arrival date, the MagicBands will be sent to your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel front desk.  Anything 5 or days less to your arrival means you have missed the window and will have to pay the full price when you arrive! I want to share an important tip. If you see a design that you really like then you should buy it right away. The selection changes quite often and you may not find the one you like later. Another thing Chuck, if you are traveling with a party then the entire party must check out all at once. If someone does not want a MagicBand or would prefer to pick out something special in the parks later then click on "Decline a MagicBand." The pressure of that moment can be intense but don't stress as you can always buy more! If you scroll down on the My Disney Experience MagicBand selection page you will see all the MagicBands or cards that are assigned to guests in your Family & Friends list. I currently have 17 assigned to me and I'm fine with continuing to grow that. (There is no shaming here my friend) I also want to let you know that once you assign a MagicBand to a guest it is permanently assigned to them. Therefore, make sure when checking out you select the right bands for the right guest. Another tip, if you have little ones, know that the bands are adjustable and a portion can be peeled off to make it fit tiny wrists. However, as it happened on my last trip, it does fall off quite often and sometimes to the bottom of the Seven Seas Lagoon. To prevent losing it consider a tiny rubber band to secure them together.

I hope this helps and you find your perfect band and have a wonderful trip! If you have any more questions feel free to let me know directly again!

    Happy Planning!
