Greetings, Kirsten, and welcome to planDisney! You've come to the right place – I've been plant-based for 15 years and enjoy scoping out good meal options at the Disneyland Resort! I'm thrilled to provide you with some solid breakfast ideas.
First, here's a quick tip for spotting vegan-friendly options at the Resort: Many locations have a "plant-based" section of their menu on the
Disneyland website or
mobile app. Items in this section (or with a leaf icon on printed menus) are prepared without animal meat, dairy, eggs, or honey. You may see descriptions that mention egg or cheese, but if the item is marked plant-based, it’s using vegan versions of those ingredients.
One of my favorite breakfast options at the Disneyland Hotel is at
Tangaroa Terrace. There, you'll find the Island Garden Avocado Toast, which is made of a plant-based croissant, smashed avocado, watermelon radish, and more. It comes with fresh fruit, and you'll love the area's tropical vibe.
Just across from the Disneyland Monorail in Downtown Disney, you’ll find
Sip & Wonder. Their vegan breakfast sandwich is hearty and satisfying. Plus, I learned their Chai lattes don't contain honey (although you should double-check as you're ordering to make sure that hasn't changed).
Have you thought about Character Dining? I especially love breakfast at
Storytellers Cafe and
Plaza Inn. You'll enjoy delicious foods while Disney Characters visit your table. Plant-based options are not listed on the buffet, but you will be taken care of. In my experience, a chef with knowledge of plant-based foods has come out and offered to point out vegan-friendly items and make some additional plant-based dishes!
When making a dining reservation, there is a section where you can specify that you don't eat eggs, fish, milk, or shellfish. As you are being seated, also let the hosting and serving team know that you would like to speak to a chef about your dietary preferences.
Inside Disneyland, you can get vegan-friendly waffles at Carnation Cafe – they aren't listed on the menu, but you can request them. For quick-service options, head to
Red Rose Tavern for the Little Town Harvest Bowl or
Galactic Grill for the Soy Chorizo Country Breakfast Burrito.
At California Adventure, the Potato Flautas at
Lamplight Lounge are delicious and filling. For quicker breakfasts, we usually go to
Smokejumpers Grill for the Chorizo Burrito or
Pym Test Kitchen for the Impossible Quantum Garden Breakfast.
Since menus can change from time to time, I recommend checking the Disneyland app or website as your travel dates approach to make sure the dishes you're dreaming of will be available.
Kirsten, feel free to send me more questions as you continue planning your trip. I'm happy to help, and hope you have the most amazing visit!
Your pal,
Kriss
