What are your suggestions in making my son's 1st birthday party in April extra special? it's our first time to be in WDW.

    Jo Melissa:

Celebrating a First Birthday provides memories that will be cherished for a lifetime, from the cake to the pictures that will record your special time. Disney can make each detail memorable.

    • Let's start with the cake. Don't settle for the vanilla or chocolate cakes you order at the podium of your restaurant. Consider calling the Cake Hotline at 407-827-2253. You'll be prompted to choose which resort/park area in which you want your cake to be delivered. You can choose your cake flavor AND filling and let your imagine run wild with decoration. There's a great write-up on the Cake Hotline at
    • Entertainment is important for the occasion. Pair your custom cake at a Character Dining location like Crystal Palace where Winnie the Pooh can be a part of the pictures, and you've created a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
    • Want decorations? Consider an in-room celebration through Disney Floral & Gifts. While your child may not remember receiving the Mickey plush that's as big as he is, the story and pictures will last. Best of all, you'll feel as special as he does upon arrival.
    • While you're celebrating, consider getting your son's first haircut on his first birthday at Harmony Barber Shop in the Magic Kingdom.
    • Capture the occasion with a photography session with a Disney photographer. Not only will you get the services of a professional photographer, your images will be retouched and you will receive them on a disk to print as you choose.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
